Once you’ve had your floors installed, you need to keep your laminate floors clean regularly in order to prevent them from getting scratched or warped. However, using harsh chemicals on your laminate can create streaks or damage it. General cleaning with a mop should be done regularly and for more deep cleaning, warm water can be used and mild cleaners as well. There are some methods you can use to clean your laminate flooring

  • Method 1: General Cleaning

○       Regularly sweep the surface of your floor with a dry dust mop to get rid of dust, dirt, and hair to reduce the risk of scratches from buildup. A vacuum with a soft brush will also work, but do not use a standard floor brush because the straw bristles could cause damage.

○       You should also clean up spills immediately with a sponge or cloth to protect the wear layer of your floor.

  • Method 2: Hot Water

○       You should fill a bucket with water that is not steaming hot, but more than lukewarm water. This thorough, wet wash, should be performed at least once a month or on a noticeably muddy or dirty spot. Using hot water is one of the best ways to clean your laminate floors because it doesn’t leave streaks and is better for the surface.

○       The best mop to use is a sponge mop to be able to control the saturation. Do not let puddles of water to pool up because it will warp your floor.

○       You can also use gentle soaps for a better clean.

  • Method 3: Vinegar

○       Pour ¼ cup of vinegar into a 30 or 32 ounce spray bottle and then add water to make a diluted vinegar substance. This method is especially good when you have caked on mud on your floors. Vinegar is too abrasive to use it alone, so you must add water.

○       You should only spray certain areas at a time before cleaning with a sponge or mop so the laminate isn’t damaged.
